"This tablet commemorates the fact that Murfreesboro was the capital of the state of Tennessee from September 26, 1819 to October 15, 1825. Erected by the Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution 1921. Patriotism is kindled in the hearts of people by the flaming torch of history."
